GHANA’S ECONOMY NOW STRONGER
Story by Michael Kenetey Kofi
The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta says Ghana’s economy is currently stronger compared to what it was four years ago.
Presenting the 2021 first quarter budget to Parliament yesterday, he noted that though the COVID-19 pandemic has frustrated and weakened economies of many countries including Ghana, government has managed to contain the virus by putting in place the necessary safety protocols and also demonstrated compassion to Ghanaians by instituting innovative measures to cushion the living condition of Ghanaians during the pandemic.
Mr. Ofori-Atta added that government is planning to establish a new national development bank with an initial capital of 500 million dollars to further support institutions in the financial sector which suffered during the banking reforms.
He pointed out that government has put in place all the necessary provisions to ensure free, fair, safe and transparent elections on December seventh.
The Finance Minister described the NPP government as a miracle performer which has been able to turnaround what he described as a tattered economy it inherited in 2017 to a stronger economy.
He further stated that due to the good leadership of the current administration, Ghana has been able to survive three crises such as domsor, chronic economic mismanagement the government inherited and the global coronavirus pandemic.
He urged Ghanaians to retain the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in power for four more years to do more and also to continue with the Ghana beyond Aid agenda.
