FISHERIES COLLEGE TO START OPERATION FROM THE 2020/21 ACADEMIC YEAR.


The Minister of Fisheries and Acquaculture, Madam Elizabeth Afoley Quaye, said efforts are underway to ensure that critical components of Anomabo Fisheries College, started in 2011 are completed for the operationalisation of the College during the 2020/2021 academic year. 

This is part of the government’s vision to build a robust fishing and Aquaculture industry that thrives on infrastructure including landing sites, hatcheries, fish health laboratories and training centers. 



The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development (MoFAD) is collaborating with implementing partners including the University of Cape Coast and Mfantseman Municipal Assembly to ensure that this becomes a reality in the 2020/2021 academic year. 

Madam Afoley Quaye  announced this at a press briefing in Accra yesterday was optimistic that the first batch of intake into the College in the next academic year is non-negotiable.

 In conclusion , she highlighted on infrastructural projects her ministry has been up to. These include the construction of the Anomabo Fisheries College which she said is 93 percent complete, the Aquaculture Centre and Commercial Farm Project where preparatory activities are ongoing, provision of Ice Making and Refrigeration Facilities, and rehabilitation of public hatcheries among others.
