Hon. Dan Botwe |
The Minister of Regional Reorganization and Development, Dan Kwaku Botwe says President Nana Akufo-Addo will defeat former President John Mahama in the 7th December general elections with over 60% of the general votes.
The former General Secretary of the NPP was speaking on a radio programme in Accra titled “Burning Issues” aimed to discuss current affairs following President Akufo-Addo’s submission of nomination forms to contest the December presidential election.
According to Dan Botwe Ghanaians will reward the NPP for its numerous social intervention programmes and policies. He added that Ghanaians gave the verdict in 2016 and nobody can insult the intelligence of the electorates.
Mr. Botwe said Ghanaians weighed the options and were not satisfied with the performance of the previous government which resulted in the resounding victory, with more than one million votes and one hundred and 69 parliamentary seats. He enunciated that this year, the NPP will the general election with over 60 per cent of votes and win over one hundred and 80 parliamentary seats.
The former NPP General Secretary said the NPP is not predicting a one hundred percent victory but they are confident that President Akufo-Addo will get at least 60 percent of the votes. But Dan Botwe who is also the MP for Okere Constituency is very optimistic Ghanaians will increase the 2016 votes to over 60% votes in the upcoming general elections.
He cited some government intervention projects such as the free SHS policy, Planting for Food and Jobs, and one district one factory as the trump card that will be used to retain the NPP in office. The Okere MP noted that the payments of the teachers and nurses trainees’ allowances by the NPP government and massive facelift in the roads and education sectors deserve continuity.
Mr. Botwe further added that the best party to move this country forward is the NPP and President Akufo-Addo has shown it within his three and half years in office as President.
He stated that the upcoming election is a movement because those championing for ‘four more for Nana to do more’ are satisfied with the good policies rolled out by the NPP government.
The legislature however concluded that the NPP will not be over complacent ahead of the upcoming elections but will continue to work hard to ensure the projections materialize.
