"My Africa- A YAMF 2022 COHORT CHALLENGE”

Africa, the continent with vast arable land enriched with numerous resources such as gold, diamond, manganese, bauxite among others. A continent with very conducive environment and atmosphere for human survival. Africa, the land of our ancestors is a land with beautiful people with beautiful, rich and diverse culture and traditions. Africa, the land full of honey and milk with its blood running through my veins. 

Africa is a continent endowed with rich historical background, beautiful tourist sites, gallant men and women and ancestral warriors. A land blessed with beautiful mountains, rivers, various species of animals, reptiles among others. A continent that its inhabitants and descendants have achieved many laurels in the field of football, athletics, academia, and entrepreneur yet undermined by its peers. 

Africa, a continent that its colleagues always  jealous because of  her youthful population and natural resources. A continent that has wonderful resources but has refused to blow her own trumpet and sing praises to glorify herself, her colleagues who lack these wonderful things blow a trumpet for her with a twisted mouth.

 Africa like other continents has its own challenges yet her colleagues abandon and set aside their challenges to highlight her challenges. A continent with beautiful, brilliant and intelligent people, yet fail to tell their story while bystanders tell their stories for them with a twisted mouth. There is a saying, “if you fail to tell your story, people will tell your story for you the way they want”. 

My Africa, a continent blessed with hardworking youth that its young women and women were enslaved for the benefit of the few, its natural resources stolen by her colleagues yet they fail to appreciate her potentials.

The time has come for Africa, My Africa to start blowing her own trumpet and sing her own praises to glorify herself. 

A time has come for African-descendants to rise and defend their mother. It is time for Africans to promote, protect and project Africa to the world despite her challenges. Africa, a continent blessed with beautiful history and culture, rise and shine to the world.

It is time that Africa must tell her own story. It is time that its leaders must be selfless and have the people at heart and develop Africa.

It is time that its youth must charge up to blow their trumpet. It is time that Africa must change the narrative that Africa is full of hunger, that it is highly impoverished, that it lacks social amenities and development.

Let us come together, renew our minds, rethink, unlearn the bad attitudes and learn the good one and make Africa work again.
