The Director General, D-G of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, GBC, Professor Amin Alhassan  has refuted claims that GBC is being manipulated and interfered by government.

Professor Amin Alhassan mentioned  that though GBC is a state-owned media and public broadcaster, the station is autonomous and does not do the bid of any government.

He revealed this in an interview with the media in Accra.

Professor Alhassan lamented that his outfit operates without any interference from any government.

The response of the Director General of GBC has come on the back of the perception in the public domain that since the station is state-owned, their operation is  always being manipulated and interfered  by any government that comes to power.

“ Carry this out to the public that government has no hand in what we do here in terms of reportage, we are autonomous” said the Director General.

Professor Amin Alhassan  therefore advised reporters of his outfit not to hesitate on reporting all activities that involves  government machineries and its appointees  provided the report is factual, accurate, truthful, devoid of defamation and not violating the ethical standards of the profession.
