NENE SACKITEY ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE EASTERN REGIONAL HOUSE OF CHIEFS.
The Konor of the Manya Krobo Traditional Area, Nene Sackitey, has been elected as the new President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs.
Nene Sackitey polled eight votes out of ten votes cast as against two for his contender, who is the Paramount Chief of Boso Gua Traditional Area, Nana Osei Nyarko.
The new President takes over from Okyenhene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin who has duly served his two terms in office.The Omanhene of Kwahu,Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong has also been elected as the new Vice President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs.
Meanwhile, three other paramount chiefs which include the immediate past president Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, Nana Osei Nyarko and Nana Owoare Agyekum have been sworn in by the supervising High Court judge, Gifty Dekyem, to join the President and the Vice President as the regional representatives at the National House of Chiefs.

In the maiden speech of the newly elected President, he said they will continue to build on their strength and also take on new direction.
He noted that they will continue programmes that strengthen the chieftaincy institution through education, training and resources.
They will also retain their commitment of solidarity and ensure that all members can have more opportunities to promote their skills, the methods and operating framework required for good performance.
Nene Sackitey said this will ensure that all of the chiefs are able to perform their critical role to protect and preserve the enviable chieftaincy institution and culture in the country.
