Madam Charlotte Osei In Kabul To Commence Her UN Appointment.

The Former Electoral Commissioner of Ghana, Charlotte Osei, has arrived in Kabul, the Capital city of Afghanistan, to commence her assignment with the United Nations (UN) as Electoral Commissioner to Afghanistan.

Madam Charlotte Osei appointment  was confirmed by a Presidential Decree issued by the President of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani and the news was made public last Monday.  

 The former Ghana EC chairman was fired by President Nana Akufo-Addo in 2018 as Chairperson of Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) but was recently appointed by UN as an International Election Commissioner to Afghanistan.

Afghanistan is billed to hold its Presidential elections in September 2019. 

 Madam Osei is part of international advisors expected to support the work of Afghanistan’s electoral management bodies.

Dr. Kwame Nkrumah has been the first president that started the free education from the formerly elementary school getting through to the Secondary and the Technical schools to Universities. Most of the leaders we have in the country who were in the secondary school in the mid-1960s benefited from such free elementary and secondary school education. However, this education policy was overthrown together with Kwame Nkrumah government in the year 1971.
