GIJ Unveils 60th Anniversary Milestone -Tasked To Review Curricula GIJ @60 Logo By Michael Kenetey Kofi, GIJ Student The Minister for Business Development Dr. Ibrahim Awal Mohammed, has tasked the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) to consider the introduction of social media courses into its curricula Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Awal According to him, it is high time the country's premier communication university included such a programme in view of the impact of social media use in the country. He argued that the school needs to review its curricula to include the course considering the huge effect of social media on human lives. GIJ 60th ANNIVERSARY LAUNCHED GIJ @60 The Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) has launched their 60th anniversary at the School Forecourt on Friday 1st March 2019. The Institution that was established by the then first President of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and opened by the then Information Minister Mr. Kofi Baako on Monday  16th of October 1959 as an institution to train cadre of journalists in the country and Sub-Haran Africa The occasion was graced by the Invited GUESTS, the School Management, The Governing Council, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff, School Alumni and the Students’ Body. The theme of the Anniversary is “Remembering Our Past, Inspiring Our Future”. The launch of the Anniversary on Friday 1st of March 2019 means the celebration of the Anniversary starts on that day to the 16th of October 2019 which will involve a lot of events and activities throughout the period.
