SUSPECTED NIGERIAN IMMIGRANTS ARRESTED

Story by Michael Kofi Kenetey  The Operations Motherland team made up of the police, military and the Immigration Service have arrested nineteen suspected immigrants at Akuse in  the Lower Manya Krobo District of the  Eastern Region.  They were on board a VW crafter bus with registration number GR 1354-21  which was driven by one Mawuli Katasi 32, and his mate  Kofi Nyavedzi 35.  A statement from Eastern Regional Police PRO Sgt Francis Gomado stated that the suspects when interviewed by the police confirmed their identies as Nigerians and that they were traveling from Aflao to Madina in Accra.  The suspected immigrants whose ages are between 21- 56 have been handed over to the immigration officials for further action.

STUDENTS COMPETE WITH CATTLE AT HUHUNYA BASIC SCHOOL

Story by Michael Kofi Kenetey The Huhunya Presbyterian Basic School in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region has threatened to close down part of the school classroom due to its dilapidated nature to prevent any future disaster.  This has become necessary because the   lower primary block and some part of the upper primary has become a death trap for the pupils. The School Management Committee (SMC) Chairman, Isaac Kodi gave the hint   in an exclusive interview at Huhunya. The Huhunya Presbyterian Basic School which was established for over 100 years now has not experienced any renovation. The facility which is the only basic school in the area serves about 20 communities such as Akusum, Salom, Aboabonya, Bosotwe, Perchiri and Agortsom among others with a student population of almost 400.  The walls of the buildings have developed cracks with the ceiling being torn apart and as a result of that has become very weak. CRIME RATE IN THE REGION

Story by Michael Kofi Kenetey.  The Acting Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana Police Service in the Eastern Region, Sergeant Francis Gomado has mentioned that the current rampant crime in the region and the country as a whole is as a result of individuals failing to abide by the rules and regulations governing the country and thereby taking the law into their own hands.  He indicated that individuals instead of reporting cases to police for action to be taken rather flout the rules and terminates the lives of others.  In an exclusive interview, Sgt. Gomado however noted, that apart from individuals taking the lives of others, crimes such as armed robbery and stealing has been in a decline for the past weeks in the region. He bemoaned that the people are not helping the police in combating crime but rather keep silence whenever a crime is being perpetrated and urged society to wake up.  Sgt.
