GRA CLEAN UP EXERCISE

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) in collaboration with the Customs Division has organised a clean-up exercise at various transport stations in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Capital. 

The Head of Koforidua Medium Taxpayer Office at GRA, Assistant Commissioner, and Joseph Asare said, the cleanup exercise forms part of their Corporate Social Responsibility to support government’s agenda to keep the country clean in order to reduce the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. 

He said GRA is ready to comply with the directive of the vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to link the Tax Identification Number to the Ghana card to get all eligible taxpayers on board to pay their taxes to rake in more revenue for the county.

He also appeaÉ–led to other organizations to emulate their gesture to do same to help keep Koforidua clean. Mr. Asare advised tax defaulters who have outstanding arrears to pay in order to help the government develop the country.

The Assistant Commissioner of the Customs Divisions  in Koforidua Madam Agnes Modey also lamented on vehicle importers who use unapproved routes to bring vehicles into the country.

The Public Relations Officer of the Customs Division in Koforidua, Edward Bagyiri encouraged vehicle importers to pay their duty and warned car importers and owners who use unapproved routes in importing cars to the country to stop adding that anyone who will be found culpable will be dealt with.

The GRA donated seven waste bins and four hand washing buckets to the motor unions and the markets women to enhance sanitation in the area.  

The Koforidua Station Masters of the Ghana Private and Road Transport Union, Kwame Adu and Co-operative Transport Union, Kwabena Antwi who received the items on behalf of the members of the union thanked the GRA for the gesture and promised to put them into good use to serve its purpose.
