FREE SHS:VISIONARY POLICY,POORLY IMPLEMENTED. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah has been the first president that started the free education from the formerly elementary school getting through to the Secondary and the Technical schools to Universities. Most of the leaders we have in the country who were in the secondary school in the mid-1960s benefited from such free elementary and secondary school education. However, this education policy was overthrown together with Kwame Nkrumah government in the year 1971. Since from the overthrow of Kwame Nkrumah, our education has passed through many hands of governments till the civilian government under the ex- President Rawlings in the year 1996 who implemented the Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education (fCUBE). Today I am on those who always make the argument that no foreign coach has ever won the AFCON for Ghana therefore we should always employ an indigenous coach. In 1963, the squad that won the AFCON has no foreign based player. Most of the players were from Real Republicans Team, Corner Stone, Asante Kotoko etc. The coach was C.K Gyamfi In 1965, the squad was fully dominated by local based players and their coach was the same C.K Gyamfi who was the coach who won it in 1963. In the year 1978, the team was fully dominated by local players from teams like Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, Olympics, Hasaacus, Corner Stone etc. Their coach was Fred Osam-Duodu In the year 1982 which is the last AFCON Ghana has won was also dominated by local players with only the Captain of the team Emmanuel Quarshie  who was then playing for Zamalek in Egypt. Every human being has a right to enjoy liberty and the pursuit of happiness. When governments provide basic amenities and the right environment such that citizens enjoy quality education, good health systems, economic empowerment and equal opportunities, then they can fall on their ingenuity and become innovative and utilize the nation’s resources very well to the benefit of all.
